Advocate flags lack of censorship and age warnings, urges mandatory certification for film teasers and trailers released on public platforms.
A formal complaint has been filed against the teaser of Rocking Star Yash’s upcoming film Toxic, alleging that it contains explicit and obscene content that could have a serious negative impact on children. The complaint was submitted by advocate Lohith Hanumappa, who has sought immediate intervention from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).
In his representation to the CBFC Chairperson, the complainant argued that film teasers should also be subject to mandatory censorship and clear guidelines, similar to full-length films. He stated that releasing teasers without proper certification poses risks to minors and public morality, as such content is freely accessible on public platforms.
The complaint specifically points out that the Toxic teaser allegedly includes strong adult visuals, yet has been made available online without any age restriction, warning, or parental advisory. According to the complainant, content of this nature should be released only with an ‘A’ certificate or with explicit age-limit disclaimers, making it unsuitable for children without parental consent.

The advocate has urged the CBFC to issue immediate directions to the producers of Toxic to either remove the teaser or suitably modify it to comply with content norms. He has also demanded that teasers, trailers, and promotional videos be brought under the mandatory certification framework, especially when they contain adult or explicit material.
The complaint further stresses that adult-themed teasers must carry clear age warnings or ‘A’ certification, failing which strict action should be taken. It also warns that large-scale protests may be launched against the censor board if corrective measures are not implemented promptly.
