Coolie sets box office on fire: Rajinikanth film crosses ₹100 Crore before release

Rajinikanth's Coolie is set for a massive opening on August 14, smashing advance booking records. The Lokesh Kanagaraj directorial has already crossed ₹100 crore in pre-sales, with over 12 lakh tickets sold for its first day. Tamil Nadu tops the list in ticket sales, while overseas markets especially the US have added to the buzz becoming the first Tamil film to cross $2 million in premiere pre-sales.

Coolie ticket sales 

The action drama, which faces a direct clash with War 2, has recorded over ₹100 crore in advance bookings for its opening weekend. 

According to trade website Sacnilk, as of 11 AM on August 13, Coolie had sold 12,46,828 tickets across India, earning ₹27.01 crore in gross collections. Tamil Nadu led the chart with ₹11.97 crore, followed by Karnataka with ₹6.85 crore, Andhra Pradesh at ₹1.46 crore, and Telangana at ₹1.69 crore. Over 10 lakh tickets were sold for the Tamil version alone, highlighting the strong local demand.

In India, advance sales for the weekend have already touched ₹50 crore, while overseas markets contributed ₹60 crore, including ₹45 crore for the opening day. The US market saw the film set a new record, becoming the first Tamil film to cross $2 million in premiere pre-sales.

Featuring Nagarjuna, Upendra, Shruti Haasan, Soubin Shahir, and Aamir Khan, Coolie tells the story of a mysterious man who stands up against a corrupt syndicate exploiting workers in a port town.
