Diljit Dosanjh nominated for International Emmy Award for ‘Amar Singh Chamkila’

Actor-singer Diljit Dosanjh has earned a prestigious nomination at the 2025 International Emmy Awards for his role in the biopic Amar Singh Chamkila. On Thursday, September 25, the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences revealed the nominations in New York, with Dosanjh’s performance in the film being recognized in the Best Performance by an Actor category. Directed by Imtiaz Ali, the biopic also secured a nomination in the TV Movie/Mini-Series category, making it the sole Indian entry this year.

In the film, Dosanjh portrays the legendary Punjabi singer Amar Singh Chamkila, who was tragically killed in 1988 alongside his wife and fellow singer, Amarjot, played by Parineeti Chopra. Produced by Window Seat Films and streaming on Netflix, Amar Singh Chamkila has garnered critical acclaim for its portrayal of the complex life of the singer.

Stiff competition in the Best Actor category

Dosanjh will face stiff competition in the Best Actor category from David Mitchell (UK), Oriol Pla (Spain), and Diego Vasquez (Colombia). The film will compete for the TV movie/mini-series award against entries from Germany, the UK, and Chile.

The 53rd International Emmy Awards will be held in New York on November 24, where winners will be announced. This year, 64 nominees from 26 countries are vying for recognition across 16 categories.
