Veteran Kannada actor Harish Rai, fondly known as ‘KGF Chacha,’ breathed his last at Kidwai Cancer Hospital in Bengaluru after a long fight with cancer.
Renowned Kannada film actor Harish Rai, widely remembered as ‘KGF Chacha’ for his impactful role in the blockbuster KGF, passed away in Bengaluru’s Kidwai Cancer Hospital after battling cancer for several years. His death marks the loss of a talented and dedicated performer who contributed immensely to the Kannada film industry for over three decades.
Harish Rai had been undergoing treatment for cancer for quite some time. Despite medical efforts and the financial support extended by several Sandalwood stars, including KGF lead actor Yash, his condition deteriorated in recent months.
Known for his strong screen presence and powerful dialogue delivery, Harish Rai appeared in numerous memorable Kannada films across genres. His popular works include Operation Antha (1995), Om (1995), CBI Durga (1997), Thaayavva (1997), Karnataka Police (1998), Garuda (1999), Majestic (2002), Katthegalu Saar Katthegalu (2003), Nalla (2004), and Deadly Soma (2005).
In later years, he continued to impress audiences with performances in Police Story 3 (2011), Sanju Weds Geetha (2011), Jinke Mari (2013), The Plan (2015), Raj Bahaddur (2016), and Bengaluru Underworld (2017). His 2019 film Andavaada, directed by Chala, was among his recent appearances.
Harish Rai’s passing leaves a deep void in the Kannada film fraternity. Fondly remembered for his humility and dedication to cinema, he will continue to live in the hearts of fans as the ever-memorable ‘KGF Chacha’.
