Court removes last-minute hurdle for Vijay’s final film; release expected soon as censor delay issue is resolved

The long-standing hurdle facing Kollywood star Vijay Thalapathy’s film ‘Jana Nayagan’ has finally been cleared, with the Madras High Court directing the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) to issue a UA 16+ certificate for the movie. The court has ordered the CBFC to grant the certificate immediately, paving the way for the film’s release.

The verdict was delivered on Thursday, in favour of the producers of ‘Jana Nayagan’. After hearing arguments from both sides, Justice P.T. Asha passed the order, effectively giving a green signal to Vijay’s last film.

The film had faced a major setback at the last minute due to delays in certification, forcing the makers to postpone its release. Although the legal obstacle has now been removed, the producers are yet to officially announce a new release date. However, sources suggest that the film could hit theatres within the next two days.

‘Jana Nayagan’ was originally scheduled for release on January 9, but the plan was dropped after the movie did not receive censor clearance in time. The production house, KVN Productions, had earlier informed audiences through social media that the release was postponed due to unforeseen circumstances beyond their control.

During the court proceedings, a member of the censor committee stated that the certification process was halted after a complaint was submitted to the CBFC chairperson. It was also revealed that four other committee members had recommended a UA 16+ certificate for the film.
