Following the Karnataka High Court’s stay on the government’s ₹200 ticket cap, theatres across Bengaluru have hiked prices, with OG tickets now costing up to ₹700.
Moviegoers in Karnataka were in for a shock as ticket prices soared just a day after the Karnataka High Court stayed the state government’s order capping movie tickets at ₹200. The HC bench led by Justice Ravi Hosmani issued an interim stay, allowing theatres and multiplexes to revise their prices.

The impact was immediate. Across Bengaluru, ticket prices for the much-anticipated Telugu blockbuster OG, starring Pawan Kalyan, have skyrocketed. Single-screen theatres are now charging anywhere between ₹500 and ₹700 per ticket, while multiplex prices are also higher than usual. In some cases, even regular shows at single screens have touched ₹700, leaving fans upset.
The state government had earlier directed theatres not to sell tickets above ₹200, but a section of producers and exhibitors challenged the order in court. With the stay now in place, both single screens and multiplexes have taken advantage of the freedom to hike prices, though the steepest rise is seen in standalone theatres.
