Pawan Kalyan’s OG breaks records with monumental opening, collects over ₹150 crore on day 1

Pawan Kalyan’s much-awaited gangster drama, OG, has set a new benchmark in Indian cinema, registering the largest opening for a non-pan-India film in history. On its first day, the film crossed the ₹150 crore mark globally, making it one of the top openers of all time.

The movie, directed by Sujeeth, garnered an impressive ₹20.25 crore from paid previews in India alone, according to trade sources. On its official release day, OG accumulated ₹70.75 crore in domestic earnings, bringing its total to a remarkable ₹91 crore net (over ₹100 crore gross). Overseas, the film saw significant success as well, raking in $3 million (₹26 crore) from the U.S. alone, with the global opening estimated at ₹154 crore.

OG trails behind Salaar (₹158 crore) and KGF Chapter 2 (₹159 crore)

OG has outperformed several recent blockbusters, surpassing the opening day collections of films like Animal (₹116 crore), Jawan (₹128 crore), and Leo (₹143 crore), while only trailing behind Salaar (₹158 crore) and KGF Chapter 2 (₹159 crore). Despite this, it remains one of the top 10 opening films in Indian cinema history.

The movie stars Pawan Kalyan as Ojas Gambheera, a gangster who returns to Mumbai after a ten-year absence to confront a rival crime lord. With a star-studded cast including Emraan Hashmi, Priyanka Mohan, and Arjun Das, OG has captured both critical and commercial attention.
