Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma praises Aditya Dhar’s Dhurandhar 2 teaser and predicts it will dominate its box-office clash with Geetu Mohandas’ Toxic, even as his past remarks on both films fuel online debate.
Veteran filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma (RGV) has once again stirred strong buzz around one of the most anticipated cinematic clashes, openly backing Aditya Dhar’s ‘Dhurandhar 2’, starring Ranveer Singh, after the teaser dropped on Tuesday.

Sharing the teaser on X, Varma heaped praise on the film and its director, making it clear where his loyalties lie in the upcoming face-off. Without directly naming the rival film, he wrote, “This is not REVENGE, it’s @AdityaDharFilms RAMPAGE.. I pity the ones who will come in its way. R I P.” The post was widely interpreted as a direct reference to ‘Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups’, starring Rocking Star Yash, which is slated to clash with Dhurandhar 2.

This is not the first time Varma has spoken about the Dhurandhar–Toxic showdown. In January, he had already framed the clash as more than a routine box-office battle. In another post, he described it as a collision between two styles of cinema, stating that one film “cuts into flesh” while the other “poses for the camera.” He even suggested that the clash, popularly dubbed #Dhuroxic, could challenge long-standing hero worship trends seen in pan-India films.

Interestingly, Varma has also praised ‘Toxic’ in the past, especially its teaser directed by Geetu Mohandas. Reacting to Toxic’s teaser released on January 8, coinciding with Yash’s birthday, Varma sparked a social media storm by stating that “no male director is man enough”. He later clarified that the comment was purely inspired by the impact, confidence, and bold scale of the Toxic teaser.
After seeing the @TheNameIsYash starring trailer of #Toxic I have no doubt that @GeethuMohandas_ is the ultimate symbol of Women Empowerment ..No Male director is Man enough in comparison to this Woman .. I still can’t believe she shot this 👇🏻 😳 https://t.co/ZxyxU8Da40pic.twitter.com/qzFUcv9JIb

RGV went on to call Geetu Mohandas a powerful symbol of women empowerment, saying her work redefined cinematic storytelling. With Varma now openly cheering Dhurandhar 2 while previously applauding Toxic, his contrasting reactions have only intensified curiosity around the high-stakes clash.
