TV actress Kavya Gowda assault case: Family dispute turns violent, r*pe threat alleged

Domestic discord between two brothers’ families escalates into a violent clash in Bengaluru; actress Kavya Gowda and husband Somasekhar hospitalised, complaints and counter-complaints filed at Ramamurthy Nagar police station.

A long-simmering family conflict involving television actress Kavya Gowda has come out in the open after a violent incident at her residence in Bengaluru. The dispute, which reportedly stemmed from frequent disagreements between family members living under the same roof, escalated into physical assault, serious threats and police intervention.

Kavya Gowda is married to Somasekhar, who has a younger brother named Nandish. Nandish is married to Prema. The two brothers and their families were living together in the same house.

However, sources say that relations between Kavya Gowda and her sister-in-law Prema were strained for a long time, with frequent arguments over small household issues and a lack of mutual understanding.

The situation worsened on January 26, when relatives of both women visited the house. According to the complaint, arguments broke out and quickly turned violent. Kavya Gowda and her husband Somasekhar were allegedly assaulted inside the house. It has been alleged that Ravikumar, the father of Somasekhar’s sister-in-law, attacked Somasekhar and also threatened him with a knife.

Kavya Gowda has further alleged that Ravikumar threatened her with rape and verbally abused her using obscene language. She also claimed that the assault may have been triggered by jealousy over her popularity as a television actress and a possible dispute related to property division within the family.

Following the incident, Kavya Gowda and Somasekhar were admitted to a private hospital for treatment. Kavya’s sister Bhavya Gowda approached the police and filed a formal complaint. Based on this, a case has been registered against Prema, Nandish, Priya and Ravikumar at the Ramamurthy Nagar police station.

At the same time, a counter-complaint has also been filed by Prema and her relatives against Kavya Gowda, Somasekhar and Bhavya Gowda. In her complaint, Prema alleged that on January 26 afternoon, while she and her husband Nandish were having lunch, Kavya asked them to leave the house, claiming it belonged to her. Prema also alleged that Kavya later called her father Ravikumar and threatened him.

According to Prema’s statement, around 6.30 pm, her sister Kasturi arrived at the house, where she was allegedly assaulted by Kavya and her relatives. Prema further claimed that Bhavya Gowda hit her and Nandish with a slipper and also forcibly removed her mangalsutra during the altercation.

Police have confirmed that both the complaint and counter-complaint have been registered and investigations are ongoing. Further action will be taken after verifying statements and medical reports.

Kavya Gowda is a well-known face on television and gained popularity through her role in the Kannada serial “Radha Ramana.”
