Actor-politician Vijay, president of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), has shared his first public post since news of his wife Sangeetha’s divorce petition surfaced. Choosing not to comment on the ongoing personal matter, Vijay instead used his social media platform to extend best wishes to students appearing for the Tamil Nadu and Puducherry +2 public examinations.

On March 2, Vijay posted a message in Tamil on X (formerly Twitter), encouraging students to face the exams with courage and without fear. He assured them that success in higher education awaits and concluded with the optimistic phrase, “Victory is certain.” The Higher Secondary exams are scheduled from March 2 to 26.

The post comes just days after Sangeetha filed for divorce at the Chengalpattu district court, describing the marriage as “irretrievably broken.” In her plea, she alleged that Vijay had been involved in an extramarital relationship since 2021, causing her emotional distress and violating marital trust. She has sought dissolution of the marriage, permanent alimony, and the right to reside in their Neelankarai home until the case is resolved or equivalent accommodation is provided.

Vijay and Sangeetha married in the United Kingdom in July 1998, followed by a ceremonial wedding in Chennai in August 1999. The couple’s separation has drawn significant public attention, especially as Vijay transitions from cinema to politics.

Known as “Thalapathy” to his fans, Vijay has acted in 68 films and was expected to retire from acting after his 69th project, Jana Nayagan, to focus fully on his political career. However, the film’s release has been delayed due to censorship issues.
