With Ugadi and Ramzan in close proximity, it’s festival season. Many professionals who are in Bengaluru have already taken leaves and have travelled back to their native places, while some may, this (Friday) night.

However, there is a shock awaiting them! Private buses have exorbitantly increased their fares. Here is a list of fares: 

Bengaluru – Shivamogga 

Regular fare – Rs 450 to Rs 600
New fare – Rs 950 to Rs 1250

Bengaluru – Hubballi 

Regular fare – Rs 600 to Rs 1000
New fare – Rs 1200 to Rs 1600

Bengaluru – Mangaluru 

Regular fare – Rs 500 to Rs 1000
New fare – Rs 1000 to Rs 1400

Bengaluru – Kalaburagi 

Regular fare – Rs 900 to Rs 1300
New fare – Rs 1400 – Rs 1900

Why the increase in fares

As per news reports, private buses have increased fares owing to scarce passengers. However, it should be noted that fares are increased during festival time as the demand is phenomenally high. 

Earlier, in several cases, the transport ministry had stepped in, taking the relevant measures, including legal measures, taming the private operators. 

5 holidays from April 7 to April 14 

April 7 is a Sunday. April 9, a Tuesday is Ugadi. April 11 is Ramzan. And With April 13 being a Saturday and April 14 being a Sunday, there is a series of holidays which people want to encash on.
