Even as a local court in Bengaluru has extended the police custody of Darshan, Pavitra Gowda and the other accused in the assault and murder, let’s look at a few points on which the court took the decision it took.

The special public prosecutor informed the court about the severity of the case as Renukaswamy was electrocuted. He also informed the court that the device used for the same has to be located.

At the same time, he informed the court that there are many other facts in the case that can’t be discussed in an open court. To substantiate it, he took recourse to submitting a sealed envelope containing the details of the aspects he mentioned.

Anil Babu, Darshan’s defence said, “The prosecutor said they had to confront data available on their phones. But the accused can’t be forced to give their passwords. The Karnataka High Court has passed several orders in this regard.”

With this order, all the accused will be taken back to the Annapoorneshwari police station where they will be subjected to more interrogation.

The police have already collected more than 40 CCTV footage, rods, car used to transport him to Bengaluru from Chitradurga, call records among others.

On his part, Darshan has pleaded with the police that he did not have any intention to kill Renukaswamy but only threaten him.
