Former Pentagon official Michael Rubin has issued a scathing statement against Pakistan following the deadly terror attack in Pahalgam which killed 26 tourists and left many injured. Rubin strongly urged the United States government to officially designate Pakistan as a “State sponsor of terror” and called for Pakistan’s Army Chief, General Asim Munir, to be labeled a “Terrorist”.

Rubin drew parallels between this attack and the 2000 Chittisinghpura massacre, which coincided with former US President Bill Clinton’s visit to India. He suggested that the Pahalgam attack may have been intentionally timed to overshadow the recent visit of US Vice President JD Vance to India. According to Rubin, such incidents are part of a recurring pattern by Pakistan to distract or send political signals during high-level US-India engagements.

In one of his most provocative remarks, Rubin compared Asim Munir to Osama Bin Laden, stating that the only difference between the two is their residence, Bin Laden lived in a cave, while Munir lived in a palace. Rubin concluded by saying that both men represent the same threat and deserve the same fate.
