In a shocking revelation, Bengaluru has once again found itself at the center of a fake Aadhaar card racket. A special operation carried out by the state’s nodal agency, the Centre for e-Governance, has uncovered deeply concerning details, raising the alarming question: Has the state’s capital become a safe haven for foreign infiltrators?

Known as the Silicon City, Bengaluru welcomes people from across the globe. However, hidden within its welcoming exterior are elements operating through illegal means. Reports suggest that individuals from foreign countries have entered the city unlawfully and created fake Aadhaar cards to legitimize their stay.
The Centre for e-Governance launched an extensive operation, surveying 5,704 houses across 19 locations in Bengaluru. Records of 10,352 residents were examined. Of them, 9,367 individuals possessed Aadhaar cards while 985 had none. More disturbingly, the officials discovered 435 Aadhar cards deemed suspicious during the verification process.
There are strong suspicions that migrants may have used illegal channels to procure these Aadhaar cards. The focus is now on individuals allegedly from Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Nepal who may have obtained the cards to blend into the local population.
Authorities have initiated a detailed investigation into the origin and authenticity of the 435 suspected Aadhaar cards. The findings are expected to shed light on the larger network behind the forgery and help trace the true identity of those involved.
This incident underscores the pressing need for tighter security protocols in identity verification and stricter monitoring of illegal immigration in the state.
