Faridabad: Girl not given leeway from exam despite being sick, dies the next day

11-year-old Aradhya Khandelwal informed her class teacher that she was not feeling. But as per the interaction of her close friend’s mother with the Times of India, she was compelled to finish her exams after vomiting in the washroom even as she was sweating all the way through. The mother said that her daughter had observed that Aaradhya was feeling extremely drowsy and even unable to walk. Furthermore the teacher did not reach out to the parents informing them of what had transpired. She vomited once more on the van while on her way back home. Upon reaching home she requested for lemon water and vomited once more. But as the parents were unaware of what had transpired in the school, they did not realise the gravity of the situation. When enquired about why her uniform was dirty, she revealed having gone to the washroom multiple times but did not reveal the full details.

Based on the partial information at hand,the family pediatrician prescribed a few medicines and an ORS solution. Aaradhya reported that the medication helped her feel better and went to sleep. However the next day,she again vomited at 6 in the morning. She was taken for an ECG scan and reported as having no pulse. 

 Delhi Public School (DPS) Faridabad, has promised cooperation with any enquiry and assured the parents of an internal enquiry into the matter as well. The parents have however refused an autopsy and are yet to file a police complaint.
