Fashion atop Umling La, the world's highest motorable road in Ladakh

As part of the Ladakh International Music Festival 2023, the Ladakh International Fashion Runway will be held at around 19,000 feet height on Umling La, the world's highest motorable road.

The fashion show will be a unique event as part of this music festival. This fashion show will be held over a span of 10 days from August 23 to September 3. This is also part of Ladakh Art and Entertainment Alliance (LAEA) initiative and resonates the spirit of G20 summit.

Women leaders from G20 countries and other guest countries will be participating in this event. Miss Universes, Miss Worlds and Earths and other high profile women fashionistas from the fashion industries across the globe will take part in the fashion event.

“I take pride in Ladakh hosting this event,” quoted India Today, as told by Tashi Gyalson, the Chairman of the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC).

“He emphasised the importance of associating local values with global decisions and promoting the concept of 'Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam' - a Sanskrit phrase meaning 'the world is one family'.” quoted India Today as told by him.

As part of this event, each model would bring a small amount of sand from their respective countries, at the conclusion of the event the sand would be mixed with concrete and moulded as “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” memory, symbolising unity and G20 spirit.

The festival will put up a magnificent display of art, culture and community and talented artistes will showcase wonderful performances and fashion trends.
