‘Fast Track Immigration—Trusted Traveller Program’ rolled out at major airports in India

Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Amit Shah, has launched the ‘Fast Track Immigration—Trusted Traveller Program’ (FTI-TTP) across major airports in India.

But what is this Fast Track Immigration - Trusted Traveller Program?

The FTI-TTP is a crucial initiative of the Viksit Bharat@2047 vision, aiming to enhance the experience of international travellers by offering world-class immigration facilities, thereby ensuring safe and seamless travel.

Notably, the minister introduced the FTI-TTP on June 22, 2024, at Terminal 3 of Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI) in New Delhi, established free of cost for Indian citizens and OCI cardholders.

The Fast Track Immigration—Trusted Traveller Program will be rolled out at 21 major airports nationwide; however, in this initial phase, besides Delhi, it is set to take place at Indian airports in Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Cochin.

Now how do we register for this?

The FTI-TTP is accessible through an online portal where applicants must complete their registration.

This involves filling out personal information and uploading necessary documents.

Biometric data will be captured either at the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) or upon arrival at the airport.

Once registered, travellers will use their airline-issued boarding pass and passport at the e-gates.

Biometrics will be verified at both departure and arrival points. Following successful authentication, the e-gate will automatically open, granting immigration clearance to the passenger.

Some key points to remember for registration

To sign up for the FTI-TTP programme, passengers need to open the official website and submit the required information as mentioned below as

* Passport Size Photograph (Should meet the same standards as an Indian passport)

* The applicant’s face, including ears, should take up 3/4 of the area in the image.

* The image should be no more than six months old.

* The backdrop of the shot should be simple white.

* Scanned copy of passport with at least 6 months of validity—front page comprising photo and personal information and final page giving family details

* For OCI cardholders: a scanned copy of the OCI card—both the first page (biographic details) and the last page (family and address details), separately.
