According to initial reports, the Mercedes-Benz collided with a Splendor motorcycle before breaking through the bridge barricade and plunging onto the service road below. The impact left the vehicle severely damaged. The deceased has been identified as Kunal Hushar, a resident of Chinchwad.

Authorities stated that the driver and other occupants of the luxury vehicle sustained minor injuries. Two individuals have been taken into custody, and a case under Section 105 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (culpable homicide) has been registered. Medical examinations of the accused have been completed, and the investigation is ongoing.

This accident adds to a series of recent traffic incidents on the Bengaluru–Pune corridor. On March 25, a multi-vehicle collision near Kanavi Kuruvinakoppa village caused significant disruption. Seven vehicles, including trucks, KSRTC buses, a container, and a motorcycle, were damaged after a container overturned on a bend, triggering a chain-reaction crash. While the pile-up led to traffic snarls, no fatalities were reported in that case.

Police are urging commuters to drive cautiously, especially in accident-prone zones along the busy highway.
