There is growing fear in Pakistan that India might launch an offensive strike any moment. This fear has severely impacted the morale of Pakistani soldiers. As a result, around 1200 officers and soldiers of the Pakistan army have reportedly resigned. The looming threat of war with India is seen as a major reason behind these mass resignations.
In addition to the fear of Indian military action, dissatisfaction with Pakistan Army Chief General Asim Munir’s leadership has also played a critical role. Many army personnel have expressed their discontent with his style of functioning and policies. Previously, there were already demands from within the army for General Munir’s resignation.
Amidst the current India-Pakistan tensions, the leadership crisis has deepened, and in April alone, approximately 1200 army officers and soldiers have stepped down. The Pakistani military is now facing internal unrest and a major leadership challenge during a highly sensitive time.
