After India bowled out West Indies for 114, at the back of a brilliant 4-6 from Kuldeep Yadav which puts him right amidst the conversation for a spot in the world cup squad, everyone expected the game to be a damp squib. Whereas the game was one sided, dull it wasn’t. Suryakumar Yadav was sent in at number 3 after Shubman Gill failed to get a start when the fans were expecting Kohli. SKY entertained the crowd with some quintessential shots as usual. But when he departed, instead of Kohli, the crowd were witness to Hardik Pandya entering the crease. He departed shortly after getting run out. Yet again Jadeja entered the crease instead of Kohli. Meanwhile Ishan Kishan who opened the innings got to a well-made half-century but departed shortly after. Still no Kohli. Instead, Lord Thakur graced the crowd with his presence. His stay too was short-lived. No signs of Kohli found! The captain Rohit Sharma entered the scene. Apart from Kohli, only bowlers remained in the order. The captain, however, closed the deal with a 4 past the mid-wicket.
Fans were left wondering what these batsmen were doing outside their regular position. Kohli has on 2 occasions not batted even after the fall of 3 wickets. One of these occasions was when Sachin got to the first double hundred ever made.
