Flipkart has issued an apology over a misandrist post

It received backlash over men's portrayal

It referred to husbands as "aalsi, kambakkht, and bewakoof"

Flipkart has issued an apology following the backlash over a recent promotional video for its ‘Big Billion Days Sale,’ which some found offensive for its portrayal of husbands. The animated video referred to husbands as “aalsi, kambakkht, and bewakoof” (lazy, wretched, and foolish), sparking criticism, especially from men’s rights groups.

The video, featuring a couple, offered women tips on how to discreetly order handbags from Flipkart without their husbands noticing during the sale. However, the portrayal of husbands upset several viewers, including the ‘NCMIndia Council For Men Affairs’, a men’s rights organization. The group shared the video on X (formerly Twitter) and criticized it for promoting what they called “toxic” and “misandrist” content.

“So @Flipkart deleted this misandrist post. But what was the logic behind even posting such toxic video addressing a Husband as Aalsi, Kambakkht, and Bewakoof Pati. They must apologize for this and hope they will not repeat it. Misandry will not be tolerated anymore,” the group posted.

In response, Flipkart quickly apologized, stating that the video was shared “in error” and was removed once the issue was recognized. “We’re sorry for the offending video… We will do better in the future,” Flipkart said in its statement.

The e-commerce giant has since taken down the promotional video from all its social media
