The recent heavy rains in Bengaluru have caused severe flooding in various parts of the city, with Kengeri's Guru Kul Ashram being one of the worst-hit locations. The orphanage, home to more than 40 children, was inundated by rapidly rising water levels, creating a life-threatening emergency situation late last night.

As the floodwaters began to rise, they swiftly entered the orphanage while the children were asleep, causing panic among the staff and residents. The swift action taken by the local authorities, in coordination with the ashram’s staff, allowed for a smooth evacuation of the children to a nearby safer building. Thankfully, there were no injuries reported, although the flooding caused considerable damage to the premises.

Local authorities worked together to manage the emergency response, ensuring the safety of all the children. The flood situation has raised concerns about inadequate flood-prevention measures in the area, especially with the ongoing rains causing havoc across the city. The BBMP and disaster management teams are now assessing the damage and providing support to the affected residents.

With more rain expected over the next few days, the situation remains critical, and local officials are urging residents to stay alert and follow safety protocols.
