In a tragic development, former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani lost his life in Ahmedabad plane crash, sending shockwaves across the state. The heartbreaking confirmation came from Gujarat Home Minister Harsh Sanghavi, who reported that Rupani's body was positively identified among the recovered remains.

The accident has cast a pall of gloom over Gandhinagar, where Rupani's official residence has now become a hub of grief and condolence visits. Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, along with Home Minister Sanghavi, personally visited the family to offer their support and sympathy.

Rupani’s wife and son, who were in London at the time of the incident, have returned to Gandhinagar. Preparations are underway for the final rites, which will be held in Rajkot, a city that played a central role in his political journey and which he represented in the Gujarat Legislative Assembly. The funeral will be conducted with full state honors.

Vijay Rupani served as the Chief Minister of Gujarat from 2016 to 2021 and was a key figure in the state’s political landscape. Known for his calm demeanor and administrative acumen, his leadership was instrumental in steering Gujarat through crucial years of development and reform.

As the state grapples with the sudden loss, tributes pour in from across party lines, remembering him as a dedicated public servant and a respected leader.
