In a serious allegation that has stirred political and social circles in Karnataka, a woman has filed a complaint with the Karnataka State Women's Commission against Prateek Chauhan, son of former minister Prabhu Chauhan. The woman has accused Prateek of cheating her by promising marriage and later backing out after establishing a physical relationship.

According to the complaint, the two families had agreed to a formal engagement, which took place on December 25, 2023, at Prateek's residence, with mutual consent from both families. Following the engagement, Prateek allegedly insisted on physical intimacy under the assurance of marriage. The complainant stated that she was taken to various places by Prateek, including a trip to Latur in Maharashtra and a visit to Shirdi by flight on May 13, 2024, where she shared a hotel room with him.
She claims that despite repeated assurances, Prateek delayed the wedding indefinitely and eventually questioned her character and virginity. On July 5, 2025, her family reportedly confronted Prateek's family at their residence but were allegedly humiliated for being “poor.”
The complainant further alleged that she attempted to file a police complaint at Hokrani Police Station in Aurad Taluk, Bidar District, on July 6, but the police allegedly refused to register her complaint. She has now approached the State Women’s Commission seeking justice.
