Deve Gowda warns Prajwal Revanna to return
He says he will not interfere in legal process
Earlier, his son Kumarawamy had pleaded with him to return
Former Prime Minister and JD(S) chief HD Deve Gowda has issued a stern warning to his grandson, Prajwal Revanna, amid serious allegations of sexual assault. Prajwal, the NDA candidate from Karnataka’s Hassan Lok Sabha seat, faces charges including rape, sexual assault, and disrobing women. The accusations have triggered a national uproar.
In a public letter, Deve Gowda expressed deep pain and betrayal, demanding Prajwal’s immediate return and surrender to the authorities. “If found guilty, he should face the harshest legal penalties,” Gowda stated, a sentiment echoed by his son, former Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy.
I have issued a warning to @iPrajwalRevanna to return immediately from wherever he is and subject himself to the legal process. He should not test my patience any further. pic.twitter.com/kCMuNJOvAo

Prajwal reportedly fled to Germany on April 27, raising suspicions about his sudden departure just days before the allegations surfaced. Interpol has issued a Blue Corner Notice at the CBI’s request, and a Special Court has issued an arrest warrant.
The scandal also involves HD Revanna, a JDS MLA and Prajwal’s father, who faces charges of molestation and kidnapping. Revanna was recently released on bail. The accuser claims a video surfaced showing Prajwal assaulting his mother, a housemaid at Revanna’s residence.
Over 100 intellectuals in Karnataka have petitioned Chief Minister Siddaramaiah for Prajwal’s immediate arrest and protective measures for witnesses. Siddaramaiah has urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to cancel Prajwal’s diplomatic passport, but there has been no significant response from the central government.
Gowda’s letter culminates in an ultimatum: “If he has any respect left for me, he must return immediately,” he warned, vowing that neither he nor any family member would interfere in the legal proceedings.
