Acting on directives from the Chief Minister’s Special Duty Officer, Dr. K. Vaishnavi, officials have collected around 70 samples of fried green peas from various locations across Karnataka. These samples have been sent to government food laboratories for analysis to determine the presence of harmful substances, including possible carcinogenic elements.

Experts have warned that excessive use of artificial colors in food can pose significant health risks. If laboratory reports confirm the presence of such additives, authorities may impose strict regulations, including a possible ban on their usage.

The issue has sparked public outrage, with many demanding a complete prohibition of artificial coloring in food products. Consumers have raised long-standing concerns over food safety, urging stricter enforcement of regulations to ensure healthier alternatives.

With the investigation underway, officials are expected to take further legal action based on the test results. The Food Safety & Drug Administration Department remains committed to addressing the concerns and ensuring the well-being of consumers.
