Slogans have always been integral to Indian elections, serving as powerful tools to connect with voters. The 2024 election season stands out for slogans that tap into citizens' primal instincts, reflecting the high-stakes nature of today’s political landscape.

While the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) slogan “Ek Hain Toh Safe Hain” (Together We Are Safe) gained significant traction during the Jharkhand and Maharashtra Assembly elections, the Opposition countered with its own impactful phrase: “Samvidhan Khatre Me Hai” (The Constitution is in Danger). Both slogans, though starkly different in tone and focus, have dominated the political discourse.
The BJP’s five-word slogan, a refined version of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s “Ek Hain Toh Nek Hai...Batenge Toh Katenge,” centered on unity and security. It became the linchpin of the party’s campaign, sparking debates and interpretations on communal harmony and social divides.
Meanwhile, the Opposition’s “Samvidhan Khatre Me Hai” served as a rallying cry to safeguard democratic values, positioning itself as the protector of the Constitution amidst perceived threats. This catch-all phrase resonated with those concerned about rising authoritarianism, making it a defining element of the Opposition’s campaign.
These slogans highlight the polarized nature of the 2024 elections, showcasing how words can both unite and divide in shaping India’s political narrative.
