Darshan, Accused 2 in the Renukaswamy murder case, is allegedly receiving preferential treatment in Parappana Agrahara Central Jail, raising significant concerns about the fairness and integrity of the prison system.

According to sources, jail authorities have been bending rules to accommodate Darshan’s visitors. Normally, visitors are not allowed in jail on holidays unless special permission is granted by the Superintendent of Police (SP) and duly recorded. However, this protocol appears to have been overlooked in Darshan’s case.

Recent regulations under the newly introduced BNS framework stipulate that family members and friends can visit inmates only two days a week or contact them via videoconferencing. Despite these rules, numerous high-profile visitors, including Darshan’s mother, wife, brother, son, and several prominent actors and actresses, have reportedly been granted unscheduled visits.

If true, such preferential treatment undermines the principles of justice and equality.

The case

Darshan and the other accused allegedly kidnapped Renukaswamy into a shed in RR Nagar, Bengaluru. He was beaten up there brutally and barbarically. Later, his body was disposed of in a drain by a few other accused. They even surrendered before the police saying the murder was a fallout of a financial fraud.

Pavitra Gowda is A1 while Darshan is A2 in the case.
