A frustrated accountant has taken to Reddit to vent about their CEO’s over reliance on ChatGPT, sparking widespread debate online. In a post titled “ChatGPT is going to make me end it,” the anonymous user, who serves as the sole accountant at a company with no CFO or finance team, described how their boss frequently quotes AI generated advice instead of trusting their professional input.

“I’m so f***ing over my boss saying ‘ChatGPT say to…” the post reads. “It’s not accurate. It’s not a source of truth. If you want something done, just tell me. I’ll make it happen in a logical and appropriate way.” The accountant explained that they’re being sidelined in their area of expertise, simply because the CEO prefers the speed and convenience of AI responses-even when the information is flawed.

They added that the situation is driving them to seek a new job: “Just ask me the question you’re asking ChatGPT. I’ll provide you with correct information.”

The post quickly went viral, drawing sympathy and outrage. One commenter offered the “Mel Brooks rule” as a survival tactic: “Agree with your boss, then do it the right way anyway.” Others shared troubling stories, including someone who avoided a basement during a tornado because ChatGPT said a shop was safer.

Another recounted how AI meddled in their relationship, with an ex using ChatGPT to settle personal arguments, which ultimately ended their relationship.

While many acknowledged the efficiency of AI tools, the overall consensus was clear that, no machine should replace trained professionals, especially when it comes to important decisions.
