Gadar 2 rules over the box office, Sunny Deol credits daughter-in-law for the success

Post Independence day, the collection of Gadar 2 stands at Rs 229 crore. The film witnessed an occupancy of close to 90% in central regions of the country. Many single screens were not able to accommodate the demand they received and hence additional shows have been arranged in that regard. On the 15th of August alone, the film managed a collection of Rs 55 crore. This has been the highest for any film in the history of Indian cinema. 

Gadar 2 is the sequel of Gadar: Ek Prem Katha that was released in 2001. Back then it had broken the record for the highest collections by a Hindi film beating Salman Khan’s Hum Aapke Hain Kaun. This achievement had come for the film despite the fact  that it had clashed with Aamir Khan’s Lagaan. This time too, the film had a tough contender in Akshay Kumar’s OMG:2. But that did not prevent fans from thronging onto the theatres. 

The lead actor of the film, Sunny Deol who was in top form playing the role of Tara Singh, the iconic lorry driver, thanked his daughter in law for the success of the film. He claimed that his family has witnessed many turns of fortune ever since her arrival.
