Gautham Gambhir could part ways with LSG

Former BCCI chief selector MSK Prasad has joined the Lucknow SuperGiants backroom staff as a strategic consultant. This had led to speculations that a larger restructuring has been taking place in the franchise’s support staff. Earlier Justin Langer had replaced Andy Flower as the head coach. As per Dainik Jagran, a Hindi daily, Gautham Gambhir could be next in line to be replaced. 

After Andy Flower, Gautam Gambhir will now leave the IPL franchise. “I can’t say anything further beyond this.” a source had revealed to Dainik Jagran. Reports are also suggesting that Gautham Gambhir could be seen in a similar role with the Kolkata Knight Riders in the next season. He has been in contact with the management of the franchise for an extended period as per these reports. 

Gautham Gambhir had led the KKR franchise as the captain for 4 seasons. They had gone on to win 2 seasons of these. Purely in terms of the number of trophies, he would be slotted in the 3rd position in the history of IPL. 

During his tenure with the LSG, he was embroiled in a war of words with Virat Kohli during a match that had gone down the wire with the Royal Challengers Bengaluru.
