A 17 Kilometre stretch of the The Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) which is a joint venture between the governments of Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh would be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on October 20th and will be functional starting from October 21st. PM Modi would be present in a public function in Sahibabad wherein he would deliver a speech in light of the launch.

The 17 Kilometre stretch will cover 5 stations including Sahibabad, Ghaziabad, Guldhar, Duhai and Duhai Depot which are important industrial locations in the state of Uttar Pradesh. The trains operating in this region have been named NAMO Train, officials associated with the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC), the agency constructing the corridor reported. This was confirmed by the Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas and Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs in the Government of India, Hardeep Singh Puri.

The entire stretch would consist of 24 stations across 82 kilometres. The 82 kilometre stretch is aimed to connect Meerut in Uttar Pradesh to Delhi in a timespan of 1 hour and the date of completion for this is scheduled to be operational by July 2025. The train’s speed is estimated to be 180 km/h making it the fastest for a public transport vehicle in India.
