The terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam that left 26 tourists dead has drawn international condemnation and expressions of grief.

On Wednesday, Pakistan expressed concern over the incident, acknowledging the loss of innocent lives. Foreign Office spokesperson Shafqat Khan stated, “We are concerned at the loss of tourists’ lives in Anantnag district of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.” He extended condolences to the families of the victims and wished a speedy recovery to those injured, according to sources. 

China also reacted strongly to the tragic incident. The Chinese Ambassador to India, Xu Feihong, condemned the attack in a post on X, stating he was "Shocked" by the violence. He offered deep condolences to the victims’ families and emphasized that China stands firmly against terrorism in all forms.

The United States also expressed its sorrow, with President Donald Trump assuring full support to India and conveying heartfelt sympathies to the victims and their families.

The deadly assault occurred on Tuesday at Baisaran meadow, a scenic tourist destination near Pahalgam known as ‘mini Switzerland.’ The incident led to swift action from Indian leadership, Prime Minister Narendra Modi cut short his visit to Saudi Arabia and returned to Delhi, while Home Minister Amit Shah immediately traveled to Kashmir to oversee the response and review the security situation.
