A gang has been apprehended for stealing coconuts in Jayanagara, Bengaluru. They would perform their operations late at night. The gang would move around in a Tata Ace van. They had apparently covered the number plate by painting over it.

On August 7th, they stole around 1500 coconuts outside the RV metro station. The owner of the stall, Saleem had registered a complaint in the Jayanagara police station. The 3 who have been apprehended pertaining to this are Gautham, Manikanta and Raghu. They have had cases registered against them in the past as well. Raghu has a case of attempted murder registered against him.

The story behind the trial is particularly intriguing. The thieves were particularly skilled in not leaving behind any clue in the scene of the incident. However they would stop by for tea after stealing the coconuts and pay through Google Pay. This was captured on a CCTV camera. Later on more than 60 CCTV cameras were accessed to trace the path of the Tata Ace. After their latest venture, they stopped by a tea stall in Uttarahalli and made a payment from Google Pay. The police reached the spot and obtained their Google pay number. From that, their bank accounts were traced. This eventually led to presenting a substantial case against them.
