Under the Sarala Kaveri scheme, applicants need to pay only 20% of the total connection fee initially to get a new water connection. The remaining 80% can be paid later with a low-interest rate, spread across 12 monthly installments. This flexible payment plan provides much-needed relief to many citizens by easing the financial burden associated with water connections.
The scheme is available exclusively for a limited period, ending on June 30, 2025. It gives two months of exclusive opportunity for house owners and apartment welfare associations to benefit from this initiative.
Key conditions under the scheme include a 0.75% interest on monthly installments (EMIs). If an EMI is missed, a 15-day notice will be issued, and failure to pay within the notice period will lead to the forfeiture of all fees paid. The EMI facility is strictly limited to apartment welfare associations and homeowners, excluding developers from this offer.
