In a move to enhance travel convenience for the Christmas and New Year holidays, the government has introduced 20 new Ambari Utsav sleeper buses under the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC). Transport Minister Ramalingareddy officially flagged off the fleet at the KSRTC bus stand in Majestic, Bengaluru.
The newly launched buses will operate on key routes, including Bengaluru to Kundapur, Mangaluru, Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Calicut, and Nellore. Each route will have two buses, ensuring better connectivity for interstate and district travelers.

The Ambari Utsav sleeper buses boast premium features designed for passenger comfort and safety. Each 15-meter-long vehicle is equipped with 40 berths in a 2×1 configuration, plush Scandinavian interiors, USB and C-type charging points, and advanced air-conditioning systems. The aerodynamic design ensures improved fuel efficiency, while upgraded engine technology enhances performance. Safety features include rear fog lights, a fire alarm system, and improved driver visibility for pedestrians.
Minister Ramalingareddy emphasized the government’s commitment to expanding transportation services, noting that 20 Volvo buses were launched two months ago and recruitment for 9,000 KSRTC employees is underway. He also highlighted plans for 750 electric buses in northern Karnataka, pending central government subsidies.
“These buses provide a superior travel experience and address the growing demand for quality public transport during the festive season,” said the minister, reaffirming the government’s focus on transparency and innovation in public transportation.
