In a dramatic crackdown, Gujarat Police arrested Kirti Patel, a social media influencer with over a million followers, for allegedly honey-trapping a prominent builder and attempting to extort Rs 2 crore. The accused, known for her presence on Instagram and TikTok, had been evading arrest for over a year.

Kirti Patel reportedly lured builder Vaju Katrodia into a trap using her online popularity and later threatened to defame him publicly if he failed to pay the demanded amount. According to police reports, she had earlier leaked inappropriate photos of Katrodia with another woman named Janhvi, using them as blackmail material. Patel, along with her gang, is accused of making repeated threats and demanding money to keep damaging content private.
Investigations revealed that Kirti Patel is not new to crime. She has a long criminal history, with at least 10 FIRs registered against her across Gujarat, including cases in Ahmedabad, Patan, Junagadh, and Surat Rural. Notably, a case of attempted murder was registered against her in 2020. Despite multiple efforts, she had remained out of police reach by frequently changing her phone number and location.
After a long manhunt, Kirti Patel was finally arrested from a rented house in Sarkhej, Ahmedabad, by a team from the Kapodra Police Station, Surat. Apart from offline threats, police found she had also been targeting people online, issuing threats and defamation through her social media accounts.
