Claudia Goldin, a professor at Harvard University, has been honored with the Nobel Prize in Economics for her groundbreaking research on women’s labor market outcomes, as announced by the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences on October 9th, 2023.

Her research not only uncovers the root causes of changes in these outcomes but also identifies the primary factors contributing to the enduring gender wage gap.

The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences highlighted that Claudia Goldin was awarded the 2023 Sveriges Riksbank Prize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfred Nobel for her invaluable contributions to advancing our knowledge of women’s labor market experiences.

Goldin’s achievement marks a significant milestone as she becomes the 55th recipient of this prestigious prize and the third woman to receive it since its establishment in 1969. This recognition brings the Nobel awards season for the year to a close.
