Hassan: Bride calls off wedding moments before ‘Muhurtha’; Cites love for another man

A dramatic twist unfolded at the Sri Adichunchanagiri Kalyana Mantapa in Hassan when a bride backed out of her wedding just moments before the sacred ‘thaali’ tying ceremony. The bride, a young woman from Bhuvanahalli village in Hassan taluk, was set to marry a groom from Alur taluk today in the presence of joyful family, friends, and relatives.

As the final wedding rituals were about to begin, the bride suddenly received a phone call and locked herself inside a room, declaring that she did not want to proceed with the marriage. The unexpected decision sent shockwaves through the wedding gathering.

Sources close to the family revealed that the bride was in love with another man and did not want to go ahead with an arranged marriage. She openly told the groom she was not interested in marrying him.

In a surprising show of understanding, the groom too agreed to call off the wedding, saying he did not wish to marry someone unwilling. The bride’s parents were left heartbroken and emotional over their daughter’s decision.

As tensions rose at the venue, both jurisdictional police from the local urban and sub-urban stations intervened to handle the situation and calm the gathering.
