Health Ministry confirms link between Covid-19 and heart attacks

Union Health Minister Mansukh Madaviya has confirmed that the recent spate in heart attacks could be linked to Covid-19 virus. “The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has conducted a detailed study. As per this study, those who have suffered from severe COVID-19 infection should not overexert themselves. They should stay away from hard workouts, running and strenuous exercises for a short time, say a year or two, so as to avoid heart attacks,” he said in an interaction with the press. 

10 deaths during Garba performances were observed due to heart attacks during Navratri in the state of Gujarat. Even children as young as 13 had suffered heart attacks. This death was reported from the Dabhoi town in the Baroda district of Gujarat. Veer Shah, a student in Class 12 belonging to the Kheda district, 28-year-old Ravi Panchal belonging to Ahmedabad and 55-year-old Shankar Rana belonging to Vadodara also succumbed to heart attacks in this time period. 

The person behind a popular and often controversial X (formerly known as Twitter) account named IAS Smoking Skills was also reported to have died from a heart attack before the age of 30. He has been identified as Yash belonging to Haryana. The account had close to 120,000 followers.
