 News about Legendary all-rounder from Zimbabwe, Heath Streak having died at the age of 49 was making rounds. He was diagnosed with late stage cancer and was hospitalised in May. 

Former cricketers from Zimbabwe were aghast at the news and even expressed their condolences at the tragic development. 

Henry Olonga, former fast bowler for Zimbabwe who had picked up Venkatesh Prasad’s wicket in the 1999 World Cup to hand the team a famous victory against India had tweeted, “Sad news coming through that Heath Streak has crossed to the other side. RIP @ZimCricketv legend. The greatest all rounder we produced. It was a pleasure playing with you. See you on the other side when my bowling spell comes to an end.” 

Former opening batsman Sean Williams had also tweeted, “Streaky, No words can explain what you and your family have done for mine and many others Our hearts our broken you leave behind a beautiful family and a legacy for us to live up to! You will be missed. We love you dearly. Rest in peace streaky.”  

However Henry Olonga shared a screnshot of a message with Heath Streak confirming that he is alive. He called the rumours highly exaggerated.

Heath Streak had captained the squad during Zimbabwe’s first ever test victory against India in June 2001. He had even picked 9 wickets and scored 40 in an innings in that game.
