The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning for the state, predicting heavy rainfall over the next four days. After torrential downpours lashed Bengaluru on Sunday, large parts of the city are reeling under severe waterlogging, traffic chaos, and disrupted daily life.

Silicon City was left paralysed after a single spell of heavy rain yesterday flooded major roads and entered homes in low-lying areas. In several neighbourhoods, residents had to use boats to navigate submerged streets, staying awake through the night to protect their belongings.

The IMD has forecast continued rainfall with thunder and lightning in Bengaluru till May 21, with an orange alert for some districts and a yellow alert for others across Karnataka until May 22. Key areas expected to receive heavy rain today include Yelahanka, Dasarahalli, RR Nagar, Bommanahalli, and Mahadevapura.

The situation has sparked criticism from affected citizens, who blame the state government and erstwhile Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) for poor rain preparedness.

As Bengaluru braces for more rain, authorities are urging caution and advising residents in vulnerable areas to remain indoors and stay updated on emergency alerts. Rescue and civic teams are on standby as the city confronts yet another test of its crumbling urban infrastructure.
