The monsoon, which has remained subdued over parts of the state so far, is predicted to intensify beginning June 11. In view of this, the IMD has issued a Yellow Alert for Ballari, Vijayanagara, and Davanagere districts on June 11, cautioning residents to be prepared for moderate to heavy rainfall.

The weather department further extended the alert to a larger number of districts for June 12. On this day, Ballari, Vijayapura, Vijayanagara, Davanagere, Kalaburagi, Belagavi, Bagalkote, and the coastal districts are all expected to receive significant rainfall. The Yellow Alert signals potential waterlogging in low-lying areas, visibility disruptions, and travel inconveniences.

Authorities in the respective districts have been asked to stay vigilant and initiate necessary precautionary measures. Emergency services are expected to be on standby, especially in areas prone to flash floods or landslides.

Farmers have also been advised to plan agricultural activities accordingly, as the rains may mark the beginning of the Kharif season in several regions. The public is urged to keep track of local weather updates and follow guidelines issued by local disaster management teams.

With the monsoon likely to pick up pace, the state is expected to see a much-needed respite from the recent dry spell.
