  • Heavy rain caused a service road to collapse near Silk Board, close to Ozone construction
  • No injuries were reported, but the road is now closed to traffic
  • Civic authorities are assessing the situation to ensure safety and start repairs

A major accident was narrowly avoided near Silk Board Junction as a stretch of the service road in front of the ongoing Ozone building construction caved in following heavy rainfall. The collapse occurred late Saturday night in the jurisdiction of the Madiwala Traffic Police Station, after intense downpours hit the area.

The affected road, which connects Silk Board to HSR Layout via the service lane, is heavily used by commuters. Due to the rain, the soil beneath the road appears to have weakened, resulting in a sudden collapse near the edge of the construction zone. Adding to the damage, a large sheet shed erected around the Ozone building site also fell during the incident.

Fortunately, no injuries or casualties were reported, as the collapse occurred when traffic was minimal. Authorities believe that the intense rainfall from the previous night played a major role in destabilizing the road. The Ozone construction project extends across the full length of the service road, which may have further contributed to the weakening of the structure around it.

Traffic police and civic officials arrived on the scene shortly after the incident. As a precautionary measure, the entire service road stretch from Silk Board towards 5th Main Road in HSR Layout has been closed for vehicular movement. Barricades have been placed, and inspection is underway to assess the extent of the damage and prevent further risk.

Citizens have been advised to take alternative routes until the damaged road is restored and declared safe for travel.
