The judicial custody of the 17 suspects in the case pertaining to the murder of Renukaswamy including Sandalwood actor Darshan also referred to as the Challenging Star has been extended until July 18th. 13 of the accused would have to remain in the Parappana Agrahara prison during this period. 

The accused were produced before a court through video conferencing on July 4th. A petition has been filed to release the vehicles of accused number 8 and accused number 10 that have been seized by the police. Advocate Ranganath Reddy arguing on behalf of the suspects stated that this issue will be examined on July 10th.

There have been a wide range of opinions that have emerged within the Sandalwood film industry in relation to this case. Some have condemned Darshan whereas others have offered justifications in Darshan’s favour. Shanvi Srivastava who acted alongside Darshan in Tarak expressed a positive opinion about him. “I haven’t had any bad experiences with Darshan. I have belief in the judiciary. There will be punishment for illegal activities,” she said. Yamuna Srinidhi who also featured in Tarak expressed confidence in Darshan being acquitted in the case. “Darshan is like my son. He’s not capable of such acts,” she said.
