Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is set to present the Union Budget 2025 today, marking her eighth consecutive budget presentation. The people of Bengaluru, along with the Karnataka government, have high expectations from the budget, particularly regarding key infrastructure projects.

The state government has requested central funding for multiple development initiatives, amounting to approximately ₹90,000 crore. It remains to be seen how much financial support the central government will allocate.
Major Demands for Bengaluru:
- Tunnel Roads for Traffic Relief:
- ₹15,000 crore for an 18.5 km north-south tunnel from Esteem Mall (Hebbal) to Silk Board Junction.
- ₹25,000 crore for a 28.5 km tunnel road from K.R. Pura Circle to Nayandanahalli Junction.
- Metro and Road Infrastructure:
- Peripheral Ring Road, Double Decker Flyover.
- Expansion of five Metro Rail corridors.
- Grants for 17 flyovers and buffer zones.
- Flood Management & Urban Development:
- Plans to prevent disasters caused by heavy rainfall.
- ₹73.04 km, 8-lane business corridor project.
- Water Supply Projects:
- Funding for the Cauvery 5th phase drinking water supply.
- Demand for Cauvery 6th phase to meet rising water needs.
With Bengaluru’s rapid growth, the city hopes for significant allocations in today’s budget to address infrastructure challenges and urban expansion.
