A Shiva temple located in Summer Hill in Shimla, Himachal Pradesh collapsed after heavy rainfall caused landslides. 9 people died as a result of this. Their bodies were shifted to the Indira Gandhi Medical College located nearby. It is being said that 20-25 people still remain trapped. The police and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) have reached the location in order to carry out the rescue operations. They are attempting to pull the trapped persons from the debris left behind as a result of the collapse.
It is being reported that despite heavy rains, there was a heavy influx of devotees early morning on August 14th. Apparently , the worship of the Shiva Linga in that duration is considered auspicious. The incident occurred at 7:15 am.
Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh took stock of the situation. He paid a personal visit to the location to monitor the operations. Heposted about the incident on X, formerly known as twitter and promised that diligent efforts are being put to rescue the people.
