Holi 2025 is not only a celebration of colors but also a major economic driver, expected to generate over Rs 60,000 crore in business which is 20% higher than last year’s Rs 50,0000 crore, according to the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT). The surge in sales is driven by increase in demand for colors, gulal, water guns, sweets, dry fruits, FMCG products and festive apparel.

As in previous years, traders and customers are continuing to boycott Chinese goods, favoring Indian-made herbal colors, pooja materials, balloons and traditional clothing. Various business sectors are witnessing a sharp rise in sales, with heightened demand for gifts, consumer durables, flowers, and festive attire like T-shirts, kurta-pyjamas, and salwar suits. ‘Happy Holi’ T-shirts are also in steady demand.
Praveen Khandelwal, CAIT secretary general and BJP MP from Chandni Chowk, highlighted the increased demand for celebration venues. Over 3000 Holi Milan events are being organized across Delhi, with large-scale festivities nationwide.
Markets and shops are seeing heavy footfall, and Holi is expected to stimulate economic activity, benefiting local businesses, small traders, and MSMEs. Holika Dahan was celebrated on March 13 which is followed by the festival of colors on March 14.
With heightened spending and large-scale celebrations, Holi 2025 is set to add vibrancy not only to festivities but also to India’s economy.
