The film, directed by SP Nimbawat, was officially announced at a press conference held at the Raghuvanshi residence in Indore. Raja’s brothers, Sachin and Vipin, said the film aims to expose the truth and highlight the betrayal that ended in a gruesome murder. According to them, the story will also portray Meghalaya in a fair light, countering the negative attention the state has received since the crime.
Nimbawat shared that the script is finalized and about 80% of the shoot will take place in Indore, with the remaining 20% in scenic locations around Shillong. He confirmed that well-known Bollywood actors are being roped in for the project.
Raja Raghuvanshi had travelled to Meghalaya with Sonam in May. Days later, his mutilated body was discovered in a gorge in Sohra. Eight individuals, including Sonam and Raj, have been arrested, though three have been granted bail. The Raghuvanshi family claims more people may be involved and allege Sonam misled investigators after the murder.
They also expressed regret about not knowing more about Sonam's past before the marriage, stating that crucial information about her relationship with Raj was concealed.
