The table toppers are set for a clash in the finals of the Maharaja T20 Trophy finals to be held in the Chinnaswamy Stadium on 29th August at 5:30 PM. The 2 teams have had the highest win ratio among all the contestants going into the finals. Both the teams have faced each other twice in the tournament. Hubli Tigers emerged on top on one occasion whereas Mysuru Warriors had the upper hand in their second clash.
Both the semi final matches were fairly one sided. In the first semi final, Hubli Tigers had won the toss and opted to bowl first. Although the Shivamogga Lions managed to get past the powerplay without losing a wicket, opener Nihal Ullal never got going and departed shortly after. Despite having wickets in hand the Shivamogga lIon’s run rate did not pick up so when three wickets fell in quick in the 12th and 13th over they were in a spot of bother. Opener Rohan Kadam’s 54 was the saving grace which took the team to a total of 149.
Despite losing an early wicket Hubli Tigers reached the target within 14 overs on the back of quickfire 50s from Krishnan Shrijith and Mohmmed Taha who also won the man of the match award. The second match was expected to be more closely contested but after having been put into bat by the Gulbarga Mystics, Mysuru Warrior top order batsmen went all guns blazing from the beginning and reached 248 at the end of 20 overs on the back of a 42-ball 107 by Karun Nair. Gulbarga Mystics did put up a fight but ended up falling 36 runs short of the target.
